The closet thing I have to a child is my cat. Noisy, beautiful, vicious and bad-tempered, he’s perfect for me. I don’t know his birthday, but I suspect he’s strongly Martian like me. When I came home today, my mom (who’s visiting) said, “Oh, look, he’s so happy to see you.” And indeed I could see him peeing at me from my husband’s study. But I know Cat, that wasn’t love; he just wanted me to open my room so he could hang out in my balcony.
He’s a chatty cat. And if I say something to him, he responds. We can do this for a long time.
“So, did you just spray my new printer?”
“Maya (his cat friend) may come and spend the weekend with us because Gauri is moving house.”
“Meow!” (But I swear he said, “Maya!”)
It’s a raining thundery evening today and we were hanging out in my room. My husband was being his usual peaceful self and I was telling my cat about my American friend who is careful feeding his cat because he’s afraid the cat will get fat. My Moon-in-Gemini husband was enjoying the conversation as much as I was and cat was listening avidly (falling asleep in my lap), when my better (ha!) half said, “He loves listening to you! He came out of the room when he heard your voice.” “Really?,” I was charmed because with my very active third and my Ceres in Gemini, also in my third, one of the ways I offer comfort is by talking to someone. I nurture and am nurtured by words, conversations, stories, emails: communication. I don’t know when my cat was born but if my calculations are right, his Ceres is on my Mercury. Yeah, we love talking to each other.
Where is your Ceres and how do you nurture and feel nurtured?
