I give you sacred tasks. I infuse your soul with the need to serve. I equip you for your duty. You belong then to no man, no woman, no child; you belong solely to the tasks you are responsible for. I pull you away from the world, from personal relationships, from ease. I pull you towards abstinence of worldly pleasures. I give you a hairshirt to wear and you glory in it, you thank me for it. You wear it with reverence and you’d sooner give up your breath than this.
When you are one who serves me, your eyes give you away. Your eyes are not like other eyes; your eyes are restless, unfocused when you are not engaged in your work. They come alive when you work, when you serve.
For some of your roles, I have enabled you with the skills to practice sacred sex, sex that heals. You hands ease disease of the heart and soul where they touch. And then when you mate, you do it as the most sacred service to your partner.
Don’t look up from your work. Although you are in the world and for it, you belong not to it. There is nothing for you out there. Nothing will bring you peace unless you are consumed by what you have to do. Must do. Need to do. The forces of life will dance their chaos around you and many a magnetic emotional storm will batter your door, heed them not. You, my chosen ones, sit you in the center of all that rages, calm like the eye of a hurricane.
You will live in their world, but never truly be a part of it. You will serve them, but never truly be a part of their lives. Although not vested by the church or by temples, you are priests and priestesses. You serve and that is your reward. The world is not for you; I have fashioned you for other things. I am Vesta.
Some additional insight about Vesta from the unmatchable Dawn Bodrogi: “Vesta doesn’t go to extremes unless its badly aspected. Her natural state is interior wholeness. She’s the keeper of the inner flame, she doesn’t care about externals. That’s what gives her strength–it all comes from a deep, inner core and she doesn’t struggle with it. It’s her devotion to the rightness within herself that is her purpose. She’s intact.”

Note to self: Written when Tr. Vesta was on my MC and forming a grand trine. And SP Vesta was opposing my SP Sun, orb of 1, receding.
I like this series you’ve started.
By the way your writing about Vesta made me think of Brida by Paulo Coelho. Have you read it?
I don’t think the other goddesses are going to be talking to me. Just these two.
I haven’t read Brida. But I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Oh, Helen! I still have your book! Forgive me! Soon. xxx
It’s a metaphysical book. I liked it a lot.
Brida is a witch but in one of her previous lives she has made the wrong choice. It seems that in her life every woman is given the choice between four rings – the ring of the virgin, the martyr, the witch and the saint.
It’s just one detail from the book – I’m not spoiling anything.
You make me want to pay more attention to the asteroids.
Beautiful blog!
thank you for this piece on Vesta….interior wholeness. So very true. My rebalancing massage practice is growing and teaching me so much now and it is all about this sacred service of which you/Vesta speak. People ask me if I am tired afterwards and I never am, only energised by this process of tangible compassion. I had always thought myself an intellectual and yet work has always been practical and now to be able to include healing I really feel like I am embodying Vesta.
thank you for this! my vesta is exactly conjunct my north node. i’m saving this post to read whenever i feel lost and confused.
I will do the same. My vesta is conjunct my mc and north node
This is amazing. I have Vesta at 10º Leo, just before my 16º Leo Sun. This post speaks to me.
hey you are missing at fb sweetie, why?
loved this post but vesta’s gift don’t allow you pleasure?
Hello Neeti, I found my way from Chirotic Journal to these stunning pieces. How well your articles compliment each other. Like all the best astrology articles they shine a light into the shadows. Brave and generous teaching, thank you!
Thank you, everyone, you for comments and love. xxx
wow this piece almost made me cry….
i have vesta conjunct the ascendant in gemini…
vesta is both beautiful in that it separates you for a higher work…. causing conflicting emotions much of the time…
and also beautiful because it brings a sacred touch to what i put my hands on…..when i finally become allow myself to connect to that
beautiful
Thanks, Jenny. I just went to blog and I hope to visit more often. I love poetry.
my progressed Sun is conjunct my progressed Vesta at 29 Scorpio in the 7th house sextile my progressed mars at 29 Capricorn conjunct my spouses Sun.
Thanks for posting about Vesta.
Beautifully written on Vesta. I have Vesta 9 degrees in Scorpio conjunct my MC of 11 degrees Scorpio, so I know well that feeling of not being part of this world and here to serve, not to get caught up in the daily dramas. Especially when I am engrossed, consumed into my work, am I the most productive and this brings deeper satisfaction. I am a psychic, medium, past life regressionist and an astrologer. I write too and when I am into deep thought, deep research of any kind, a bomb could go off and I wouldn’t care! I am so in that deep priestess of Vesta, serving my temple of inner transformations. Thanks so much for this.
This is actually the best and most helpful Vesta post I’ve read so far, Neeti. I fall most deeply for men who have their Suns on my Vesta/Vertex conjunction.
That’s a very sensitive point for then, Gabby: Vesta conjunct the Vertex!
And thank you! I’m glad you liked the post.

Thanks for this. I have Vesta on the ascendant and trine the Sun, your reading of her makes so much sense.
(And I agree, Dawn is unmatchable!)
You’re welcome!
Fantastic article. I have Vesta in Virgo conjunct my Virgo ascendant. I have been told that my presence in comforting.
Beautifully penned! like a mystical poem. I have a Vesta grand trine in my chart ( with Mars and Venus in other ends) I had no idea what it is about and was trying to figure out… that is how I came to your beautiful piece of work and I am happy that I did:)
you know in many places I felt it is directly speaking to me.. I have been taken away from all the worldly things at some point in my life, its kind of still going on…but I know with all my heart that it is taking me somewhere
You can be proud that in the remote corner of world somebody is reading your words and being touched and enlightened by it!
Thank you very much for that. xxx

I have Vesta conjunct NN and this powerfully made me understand what I’ve already known but never understood
This is beautiful. Amy Winehouse had vesta in gemini in her first house conju widely her north node. This piece speaks of the qualities shr owned. Not of this earth but with a shining purpose all her own. And inly when she truly owned that was she really herself.
Mines is in capricorn in the 12th house, very akwardly aspected, if at all♑.
Blessings ur writing is great,
Louisa
