The world waits with bated breath for Oscar night 2010. The world doesn’t have long to wait. But in the meantime, I have some astrology homework to do for my secondary progressions class. I have to look at the progressed charts of the guys who made the cut in “Actor in a Leading Role” category to see who is most likely to win.
Alas, celebrities being celebrities, and not always obliging, we have the verified birth time for only two of these fine men: Jeff Bridges and George Clooney. But as fate (ha!) would have it, these are the two men most people are betting on. So, let’s see what’s happening in their charts, shall we?
George Clooney:
On Sunday evening, transitioning Jupiter will be 38’ minutes away from conjuncting his ASC. Jupiter rules Clooney’s MC and is the traditional ruler of his Pisces ASC.
This may not be important, but it catches the eye: transitioning Rx Mars is on his natal Mars at 0 Leo opposing his natal Jupiter, Saturn and Moon conjunction.
Jupiter on his ASC shows his current popularity. But that Mars opposition worries me a bit. It seems to indicate that if he does not win, he’s going to take it pretty hard. There’s much more happening in his chart, but I’m focusing on the most dramatic things I see, so I’ll stop here and move on to his progressed chart.
Clooney’s progressed MC is 4 Aquarius straddled by Rx Jupiter at 5 degrees and Rx Saturn in late degrees of Capricorn. His progressed MC’s traditional ruler is retrograde and Uranus the modern ruler, is squaring Venus and conjuncting Mars (the rulers of his progressed ASC and DSC). What has been happening with his relationships? I haven’t looked it up, but it sure looks interesting.
Jeff Bridges
Oh, my! Have you noticed? These two guys have their natal axes reversed! Sorry about that, but it’s rather remarkable. But let’s move on:
Bridges has Jupiter on 0 Aquarius and our dear friend retrograde Mars is doggedly opposing that as well his 29 Capricorn Venus: I’d say Jeff’s feeling rather optimistic, wouldn’t you?
In his progressed chart, the Moon is in the10th and in Leo: this is his time in the sun, that’s for sure. Sun is the ruler of his progressed MC and it is 11 minutes away from a conjunction to Jupiter!
And Jupiter gives the Oscar to:
It’s difficult to pick a winner: both men have Jupiter beaming on them. Both are going to have a great time, career-wise, in the coming year, Oscar or no Oscar. But if we give a lot of weight to what the MC ruler is doing in the actors’ progressed charts, then Jeff has a decided edge.

Transits and Progressions were done for 7-March-2010
this is fun astrology! i like jupiter on George’s AC, and mars is the action planet in transit so maybe it does look good for him. he is a bit better looking than Jeff but i don’t know if that counts. Hollywodd isn’t my forte though, i don’t even know whast movies they are in.
I know! It’s freaking me out, being wrong! And, AND! I didn’t look for natal promise! ::weeps::
I have to say, I love all the guys who are nominated and for once in my life have seen all the movies. I would love for Morgan Freeman to win, however. His portrayal of Nelson Mandela was uncanny! Donna
Nice prediction work–i hope it’s the Dude! And to be “virgoan” (even tho i am super pisces) “baited breath” is actually “bated” from Old English, “abated” in case you care…
Thank you!
And I’ll fix the spelling. I do care. Passionately!
Great job, Neeti! Your analysis did in fact predict the Oscar winner for best actor.
nice one Neeti!
Thanks, guys! Secondary Progressions rock!
You totally called it. Hat’s off sister.
Hey, Neeti. Good job!
What class are you taking?
